The Cows of Mossop
Mossop Leathers recognises the United Nations Global Compact as a global movement towards reducing our impact on the planet.

The United Nations Global Compact serves as a guiding beacon for organisations worldwide, offering a framework to integrate better and best practices into business operations through the lens of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
At Mossop Leather, we acknowledge the importance of aligning our actions with the UN's SDGs, which focus on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption efforts. We are fully committed to this Compact, and our LEATHERPRINT goals and actions reflect this dedication.

To visually symbolise our commitment to sustainability, we collaborated with Cape Town-based artist Gareth Nyandoro to create a striking installation featuring 12 cows. Each cow represents one of the Sustainable Development Goals identified by Mossop, encapsulating our efforts for the environment, society, and ethical business practices.

These cows stand as a beautiful testament to our dedication and serve as a constant reminder of the importance of our mission through Our LEATHERPRINT initiative. Let's continue working towards a brighter, better future for all.
Our Spekboom
Spekboom (Portulacaria Afra) is a South African succulent, known for its green leaves and red stems. Included in our manifesto for its benefits, it supports wildlife, offers medicinal relief, and requires less water than traditional gardens. Notably, it's a potent carbon sequester, capturing 2.9 to 8.6 tonnes of CO2 per hectare annually.
Sourcing Spekboom led us to Mamma Rose, a local who funds a school with plant sales. Our garden's 9000 Spekboom plants attract African honey bees, aiding pollination and providing food for wildlife. The garden also sequesters two tons of carbon annually, complementing our commitment to responsible manufacturing.
